Introduction
CatNap values your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our app, website, and related services.
Information We Collect
1. Cat Photos & Recognition Data
When you scan your cat to unlock apps, photos are sent to our AI providers (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI as a fallback) for cat detection and identity matching. These providers process the image to verify it contains a real cat and matches your enrolled cat. We don't keep the scan photo, and the providers delete it under their standard API terms (see Data Sharing). Cat "sticker" images (isolated cat cutouts) may be uploaded to Firebase Storage for leaderboard features if you opt in.
2. Screen Time Data
We use Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls) to block and unblock apps. This data stays on your device and is managed by iOS. We do not have access to which specific apps you block—only that blocking is active.
3. Account Information
If you create an account (optional), we collect your email address and username for leaderboard features and account recovery.
4. Leaderboard Data
If you opt into leaderboards, we store your username, cat name, and aggregated unlock statistics (time blocked, unlock count). Cat sticker images on leaderboards are uploaded only with your consent.
5. CatKey Collar Data
The CatKey Collar is not offered, and the app does not register collars. If you registered a collar before, we keep its data (your cat's name, the collar identifier and, if you turned on Lost Pet mode, your contact information, which anyone who scans the collar can see while Lost Pet mode is on) until you ask us to delete it.
6. Device Information
Device type, operating system version, and anonymous usage analytics to improve app performance.
How We Use Your Information
1. To provide and improve app functionality (blocking, unlocking, tracking).
2. To display your cat on leaderboards (with your consent).
3. To process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
4. To send important service updates.
5. To improve app performance through anonymous analytics.
We do not use your data to train AI models. Neither Anthropic nor OpenAI uses data sent via their APIs to train their models.
Data Sharing
- • Ad measurement: CatNap includes the Meta and TikTok SDKs and AppsFlyer, which tell us which ads bring people to CatNap. They receive app events, such as installs, onboarding completion, trial starts and subscription purchases, and device information. If you allow tracking in Apple's prompt, this includes your device's advertising identifier. AppsFlyer may share these events with the ad networks we advertise on, so they can count which ads worked. Your Screen Time data and cat photos are never sent to them.
- • Screen Time data (which apps you block) stays on your device and is never uploaded.

Anthropic (Claude AI): Cat photos are sent for detection and identity matching when you scan to unlock. Anthropic uses the photo to make the answer and deletes it within 30 days under its standard API terms, or keeps it up to 2 years if it is flagged for a usage-policy review.
OpenAI (GPT-4o): Used as a fallback AI provider when Claude is unavailable. OpenAI keeps API data for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, unless the law requires longer.
AIProxy: Relays scan requests to Anthropic and OpenAI. It keeps your IP address and request details such as the status code and request size, not the photo.
Firebase (Google): Account authentication, app usage analytics, leaderboard data, cat sticker images, and data for any previously registered collar.
RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous ID it creates. It also receives identifiers for your device and install, your IP address, and the token Apple provides to measure Apple Search Ads; if you allow tracking, this includes your device's advertising identifier.
Superwall: Paywall presentation and A/B testing. Superwall receives your subscription status and device information, such as your device model, OS version, language, region and an identifier for your device.
Vercel Analytics: Anonymous website performance metrics.
Apple: Screen Time API, App Store purchases, and Sign in with Apple.

Data Retention
- • Cat photos: Sent to the AI provider only during a scan; we don't keep the scan photo. Anthropic deletes it within 30 days (up to 2 years if flagged for review) and OpenAI within 30 days unless the law requires longer. Sticker images may be uploaded to Firebase if you opt into leaderboards.
- • Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- • Leaderboard data: Retained while you participate. Can be deleted on request.
- • Collar data (collars registered before): retained until you ask us to delete it.
Children's Privacy
CatNap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
International Data Transfers
CatNap is operated in the United States. If you use our app from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by our third-party service providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, AIProxy, Firebase). By using CatNap, you consent to this transfer and processing.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
